Summer Reading Club for Kids
Starts June 6 - Ends August 8
Tune your instrument, make sure your paint brushes are clean and get your imagination ready for the 2009 Summer Reading Club. Pick your step and dance to your nearest Library branch or the bookmobile to pick up an official gameboard or download a copy of the game board ( PDF) and print it at home!
By reading and completing creativity-minded activities, you can win a book, a painting sheet, a Fresh Start Fine Waiver Card, a Food 'n' Fun Flipcard of free and discounted items and admission offers from the sponsors and even a chance to win tickets to a Springfield Cardinals baseball game. Get started! Watch the "Be Creative" video, and don't miss the exciting "Be Creative" free programs coming to a Library near you.
Activities
- Send a postcard to the children's department of your Library or e-mail becreative@thelibrary.org.
- Attend a Library program.
- Post a book review about a book you just read on coolcat.org.
- Listen to a Tumblebook.
- Download and listen to a book on Overdrive.
- Visit KidSpace and nominate and/or vote for your favorite illustrator.
- Visit KidsBlog and guess the weekly Mystery Artist.
- Use art supplies, recyclable materials or nature objects to create a sculpture. Bring it to your Library or e-mail a photo of it to becreative@thelibrary.org.
