A historical sketch of Edward Martin Shepard from the Drury College Bulletin, June 1934. Dr. Shepard, a teacher at Drury College, had died April 28, 1934. Dr. Shepard was instrumental in establishing the Springfield public library.
The Lyon Monument Association held a meeting in 1865 to raise money by subscription to erect a monument to General Nathaniel Lyon on the Wilson's Creek battlefield.
