Rock Out!

Time to rock out and get your groove on with a book!  How can you do that?  Visit your local library, check coolcat, and check the book display in the Spot at Midtown.  This fall we're starting a Music Club at Midtown, so if you have some ideas we'd love to hear them (there's a suggestion drop box on the Spot book display)!

Here's a short sample of what the library has to offer (check out Coolcat for more):

 Nick & Norah's Infinite Playlist

High school student Nick O'Leary, member of a rock band, meets college-bound Norah Silverberg and asks her to be his girlfriend for five minutes in order to avoid his ex-sweetheart.

Heavy Metal and You by Christopher Krovatin

High schooler Sam begins losing himself when he falls for a preppy girl who wants him to give up getting wasted with his best friends and even his passion for heavy metal music in order to become a better person.

 Beige by Cecil Castellucci

Dad's an aging L.A. punk rocker known as the Rat, a recovered addict and drummer for the famously infamous band Suck..  Daughter's a buttoned-up neat freak who'd rather be anywhere else.

Beautiful City of the Dead by Leander Watts

After joining a heavy metal band, high school student Zee learns that she is a god of water and is called upon to fight sinister forces that want her powers for their own.

So Punk Rock (and other ways to disappoint your mother) by Micol Ostow

Four suburban New Jersey students from the Leo R. Gittleman Jewish Day School form a rock  band that becomes inexplicably popular, creating exhiliration, friction, confrontation, and soul-searching among its members.
