Republic Branch Library Manager Named Among "20 Most Influential Women for 2010"

Kim Flores, manager of the Republic Branch Library, has been named one of the Springfield Business Journal’s 20 Most Influential Women for 2010.

The publication honors 20 women in the Ozarks every year for their outstanding service to their families, work and community. The awardees will be honored at an expo and luncheon from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 24, at University Plaza.  

Since joining the Springfield-Greene County Library District in 1995, Kim has been circulation/audiovisual department manager at Midtown Carnegie Branch Library, formerly Main Library, and children’s department manager at Midtown Carnegie and the Library Center. She has been manager of the Republic Branch Library since 2007.

Kim has a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Drury University and a master’s degree in library science from Texas Woman’s University School of Library and Information Studies, Denton, Texas.

Her community activities include Sunshine Elementary School PTA and chair of the PTA Reflections Committee; secretary of the Marine Corps League Auxiliary; president of the Republic Business and Community Women; a docent with the William Roston Butterfly House; and a member of the Friends of the Library, Republic Chamber of Commerce and Missouri State University’s Book Review Board.  

 Kim and her husband, Eddie, have three children: Adam, Maya and Elena.
