County Poor Farm Sold

From the Springfield Express February 21, 1890 page 3.

"At the session of the Greene County court yesterday, orders were made and entered of record as follows: Ordered that the bid of John W. Lisenby, W. H. Park and S. H. Horine for the purchase of the Greene County Poor farm for the sum of $25,211.30 be and the same is hereby accepted, Judge Mullings dissenting.

"Ordered by the court that George A. C. Woolley be and is hereby appointed special commissioner for Greene County, Mo. to convey all the right, title and interest Greene County may have in and to the following described real estate, to wit: The west half of the southeast quarter, section 19 township 29, range 22 [21], known as the Greene County farm, containing 80 acres more or less, to J. W. Lisenby, W. H. Park and S. H. Horine." [Note: There is a typographical error in this account. The range should be 21.]

This alms house was located in the area of Pickwick, Delaware and Weller Streets between Cherry and Grand Streets. The image is from the 1876 Greene County Plat book.
