Happy New Year, Teachers!

George Lucas, long time pioneer in the field of innovative ideas, developed an educational foundation to celebrate and encourage innovative ideas for education. The content of this foundation is called Edutopia.

From the website's homepage, you can learn about the mission which includes "documenting, disseminating, and advocating for innovative, replicable strategies that prepare students to thrive in their future education, careers, and adult lives. " Edutopia contains a deep archive of continually updated best practices, from classroom tips to recommendations for districtwide change. The core strategies of Edutopia include: integrated studies, project learning, comprehensive assessment, social and emotional learning, teacher development, and technology integration.

Edutopia's content is divided into two categories:

Currently, you can take a quiz to determine your learning style. After taking the quiz, you can learn about each style and more about multiple intelligences and how best to develop curriculum to meet the needs of students with these different styles.

Another great feature of Edutopia is the ability to learn what is happening at the local level in school districts across the country. Educators regularly pose questions in one of the numerous groups that generate lively discussions and personal testamonies as to their effectiveness.

Membership is free, although as a non-profit, you can support the foundation with a financial contribution.
