Martin Luther King, Jr. Day

Martin Luther King, Jr. Day is observed on the third Monday in January to celebrate the memory of the civil rights leader.  The first national King Holiday was observed on January 20, 1986.

The Springfield, Mo. chapter of the NAACP will sponsor a march and celebration on Monday, Jan. 20. For more information visit  http://naacpspringfieldmo.org/.

The 15th Annual Springfield Multicultural Festival sponsored by Unite of Soutwest Missouri begins at noon on Monday. Find more information on the festival at http://unitenewsonline.org
