Free Tax Help

Do you need help preparing your taxes? Several ATLS (Across the Life Span) coalition agencies will provide tax assistance to individuals from early February through the end of tax season. Contact the program provider for additional information.

Volunteer Income Tax Assistance - Community Partnership of the Ozarks

Community Partnership of the Ozarks coordinates with several organizations to provide the VITA program in the Greene County area. IRS certified volunteers prepare free basic federal and state tax returns with electronic filing for qualified individuals.

The VITA program is generally for taxpayers of low-to-moderate income ($65,000 or less) and for people with disabilities. Emphasis is on the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) and the Missouri Property Tax Credit (MO PTC) (rent rebate).

VITA clinics will operate February 1 to April 15 and appointments are required. Call 417-720-2000 to schedule an appointment. Expect delays due to call volume. 

Volunteer Income Tax Assistance - Drury University

Mondays in February from 4 – 7 p.m. Calling last client at 6:30 p.m.

Drury University’s Breech School of Business students are certified by the IRS to provide some FREE tax services to the community as an IRS Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) site. They can help most members of the community with income of $58,000 or less.

Tax Counseling for the Elderly

SeniorAge Area Agency on Aging TCE program is primarily for adults 60 years of age and over or 100% disabled individuals. IRS-certified volunteers specialize in questions about pensions and retirement-related issues unique to seniors. They will prepare free federal and state tax returns and Missouri Property Tax Credit (rent rebate) forms.

TCE sites will provide assistance from early February to the end of tax season and appointments are required. Contact your nearest SeniorAge Senior Center at 417-862-0762 for further information and to make an appointment.
