Get Expert Advice on Handling Money During "Money Smart Week @ your library"

People of all ages and stages of life are invited to attend a series of free programs offering expert money advice during Money Smart Week @ your library, April 2-9 at many branches throughout the Springfield-Greene County Library District.

Twenty-seven free programs or events are planned during this financial tune-up series.

Representatives from 15 area financial, consumer and educational institutions will present fun and informative sessions on everything from how to budget your money, spend money wisely, save it, invest it or leave it as a legacy for your family.

Money Smart Week kicks off with Document Disposal Day at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 2, when EDCO Group Inc., will provide a document-shredding vehicle on the Library Center parking lot, 4653 S. Campbell Ave.

All that day and each day through Saturday, April 9, programs are scheduled for children, teens or adults at branches throughout the library district.

Topics include “’Tweens Feed the Piggy Bank;” “Dollars and Cents” for children; “Identity Theft – Don’t be a Victim;” “Mortgage Workshop 101;” “Credit Basics;” “First-Time Homebuyer;” “Coupon Moms;” “Banking 101 for Teens;” “Estate Planning;” “Managing Your Money Wisely: Tracking Your Money,” and more.

Money Smart Week is a national public awareness campaign designed to help consumers manage their personal finances. It is a partnership of the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago, the American Library Association and the Springfield-Greene County Library District.
