Friends of the Library Spring Book Sale Begins April 26
The much-anticipated Friends of the Library Spring Book Sale returns with bargain-priced books, CDs and DVDs from April 26 through May 1 at Remington’s, 1655 W. Republic Road.
Hours are 10 a.m.-8 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday, April 26 through 30, and 1-5 p.m. Sunday, May 1.
The Friends members-only preview night is 5-8 p.m. Monday, April 25. To attend, bring your membership card or join at the door for $5.
The Friends of the Library volunteers have collected and organized three semi-tractor trailers full of books for the annual spring sale.
The event features bargain-priced used books and other materials in a variety of genres for children, teens and adults. Children’s books are priced 50 cents or less, adult and young adult books are $1 or less, most audiovisual materials are $1, and better books are individually priced.
Friends of the Library is the volunteer organization that supports the Springfield-Greene County Library District. Sale proceeds benefit the 10 library branches and bookmobile, and fund children’s and library patron programs. The Friends Fall Sale in October 2010 reached more than $108,000 sales, a record-high sales figure for the group.
A grant from the Friends of the Library is being used to purchase the Mobile Library, the library district’s new bookmobile that will roll out in May.
