Read Out for Banned Books Week
As you know we've been celebrating Banned Books Week at the Library all week long with programs, author visits, and by reading banned and challenged books. We're also hosting a Banned Books Read Out. People from the community will be reading from the top 30 banned books of the last decade. They'll be reading from books like To Kill A Mockingbird, Catcher in the Rye, ttyl and Harry Potter.
Speaking of ttyl, check out this video of Lauren Myracle reading from her new book for Banned Books Week's Virtual Read Out:
Anyone can participate in the Virtual Read Out. Check the Banned Books Week website for more information.
We'll be hosting several Read Outs at the Library on Saturday, October 1:
- 10-10:30am at the Republic Branch Library
- Noon-12:30pm at the Library Station
- 2-2:30pm at the Brentwood Branch Library
- 4-6pm at the Library Center, with Twenty Boy Summer author Sarah Ockler.
