Secretarial Training Starts
"Training of secretaries at the Vocational-Technical School began here today with basic instruction in typing. The training, a joint project of the Missouri Division of Employment Security and the Vocational-Technical School, is strictly for unemployed persons, officials emphasized.
"Teachers for the class are Mrs. Jim Cornett and Mrs. Clayton Spencer. Here, Mrs. Spencer is giving the class basic instruction in typing. During the 12-week course, the women also receive instruction in shorthand, business English and record keeping.
"Eighty women will be trained in the present project. The trainees are screened, tested and counseled by the employment office and 20 women are in each class.
"The 24-week project is divided into four sections, according to David Berryman, director of vocational and technical education for Springfield Public Schools, with the last section ending in November."
