A new service for genealogists and researchers is available.  Here is a letter we received from the State Historical Society of Missouri.

"April 1, 2012

"Dear Member:

"Thank you for your support of the State Historical Society of Missouri.

"I am writing to inform you of a valuable and free new service being provided to your region of the state. Through a partnership between the State Historical Society of Missouri and Missouri State University, SHSMO manuscript, book and microfilm collections will be available for you to use on the Missouri State University campus.  Collections from all State Historical Society of Missouri Research Centers – Columbia, Kansas City, Rolla and St. Louis – will be delivered on the fourth Wednesday of every month to the Special Collections & University Archives section of MSU’s Duane G. Meyer Library.  You may request up to three boxes of material each month and requests should be made at least one week in advance or by the third Wednesday of each month.

"Take a look at the collection listings at http://shs.umsystem.edu/research/ and complete the request form available at http://shs.umsystem.edu/research/requestform.php . Please pay special attention to the section ‘Requests for research materials to be used at an SHSMO research center’ and click on the ‘Springfield’ option.

"The goal of this new partnership is to provide southwest Missouri residents, students and scholars with convenient access to all of SHSMO collections.  Although the retrieval and delivery service is free, fees for subsequent copying or scanning of material will apply.

"If you have questions, please call the Society’s Research Center-Columbia at (573) 882-1187 or contact the SHSMO Research Center-Rolla at (573) 341-4874.

"We look forward to hearing from you about your research interests and requests.

"Sincerely,
"Gary R. Kremer"
