South-West High School

"The next session of this popular institution will commence on the first Monday in April. The course of instruction is such as to insure sound thorough instruction in the various branches of literature usually taught in our Colleges.  The institution is located in a healthy position in the country, where the water is pure and excellent, and the neighborhood a good one, where the young are not exposed to those seductive influences so common in towns. Boarding is cheap and can be had in respectable families near the Institution. This institution has been founded only a few years, and in this short time has gained the confidence of the community. The board of instruction is considered able and fully competent for the arduous duties devolving on them. The reputation and character of the institution is deservedly high, and from the efforts making on the part of its conductors to insure a thorough course of instruction to the rising youth of the country, entitle it to the patronage and favorable consideration of the citizens of Greene County and South-West Missouri."

This school is also referred to in the History of Greene County.
