Joey Kelly “LST-783 Cruise Book, A WWII Journal” Book Signing Nov. 10 at Library Center
Joey Kelly, grandson and son of well-known circus clowns Emmett Kelly and Emmett Kelly Jr., will sell and sign copies of his book “LST-783 Cruise Book, A WWII Journal,” from noon to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 10, at the Library Center, 4653 S. Campbell Ave.
Emmett Kelly Jr. served as a captain in the U.S. Navy in World War II. “LST-783 Cruise Book, A WWII Journal,” blends officer and enlisted perspectives and ship records into a daily accounting of what a diverse group of men of various ages and social classes encountered during WWII. It features uncensored, daily writings from the captain to his wife, offering an unprecedented look at his ship, officers and crew in the midst of the war in the Pacific, as well as the lighter side of the war.
As a salute and thank you to all who have served our country, Joey and his wife Lindy will appear in WWII Navy uniforms to sell the book at a special Veterans Day price of $7 each, regularly $14.95. Visit the Emmett Kelly Jr. website for more information about Emmett Kelly Jr. and the LST-783.
