Fold3 History & Genealogy Archives

Good news! The Library now offers Fold3 to genealogy and history researchers.

Fold3 is a database that provides census records, state records, city directories and historical primary source documents from pre-U.S. Revolutionary War through the Vietnam War. It also includes the Dawes Roll packets for those researching their Native American ancestors, the UFO Blue Book, for those of us whose ancestors seemed to have materialized out of thin air, and the US Bureau of Investigation Case File Archive, for those somewhat suspicious ancestors.

If your interests are of a more historical nature, milestone document scans, such as the Gettysburg address and the Alaska purchase are available. While you can’t always believe what you read in the papers, you can read them for yourself on Fold3. Some of the titles available are the London Times and the Chicago Tribune.

If you or your children need help with a school project, Fold3 has lots of possibilities to add to your project. There is an archive for WWI and WWII, that includes documents and photographs (WWII) as well as a photo section that includes Brady’s Civil War photographs.

You can find Fold3, HeritageQuest and other valuable research tools on the Library's Genealogy Research page and the Local History website.
