Kids’ Fun, Fishin’ Magicians, Music and Poetry Slam Headline First Night Events at Park Central Branch Dec. 31
The Park Central Branch Library, 128 Park Central Square, will be filled with kids’ activities and more for Springfield’s First Night festivities from 5:30-10 p.m. Monday, Dec. 31.
Here’s the schedule:
• 5:30-10 p.m.: Hands-on activities for kids including face painting, balloon twisting and Chinese name painting
• 5:30-7:30 p.m.: The Fishin’ Magicians
• 7:30-9 p.m.: Music by Lyal Strickland
• 9-10:30 p.m.: MO Poetry Slam
First Night is a family-friendly New Year’s Eve event that takes place at 10 locations around downtown Springfield. This year’s First Night features more than 20 performances and a fireworks finale with entertaiment by America’s Got Talent contestant Jake Wesley Rogers.
Tickets are $8 each or $30 for a family four-pack in advance. Tickets purchased at the event are $10 each, or $35 for a family four-pack. Children age 3 and under admitted free.
Tickets are available at the Library Center, Library Station, Brentwood Branch and the Park Central Branch libraries. They are also available at Kum & Go stores, Price Cutter, The Creamery Arts Center and Urban District Alliance.
