Learn to Create Safer Libraries at Business Watch Training

Do you know how to protect your business against theft and vandalism and keep it safe for yourself and customers? It can be as easy as varying the times you handle company cash, or keeping windows clear of posters and signage.

The Springfield Police Department has launched Business Watch – a Neighborhood Watch-style program for business managers and employees – and is offering two sessions for the public at library branches June 12 and 20.

Officer David Snider of the Crime Prevention Unit will conduct the two-hour sessions:

Business Watch is designed to teach people how to create clean and inviting buildings and campuses that are crime-free. Sessions focus on crime prevention through environmental design. For example, Snider cautions against excessive signage in store windows, saying it’s better to make the interior of the business visible to passers-by.
