'I Dig Steam Engines!' June 28 at Steam Engine Grounds

Our friends from the Ozark Steam Engine Association and the Southwest Early Day Gas Engine and Tractor Association are dedicated to restoring the steam-powered engines used on farms and by industry in the mid-19th century around the Ozarks and the nation. Join them for fun and informative look at steam engines from 10 a.m. to noon on Friday, June 28, at the Steam Engine Grounds.

Members of the associations will open the Steam-O-Rama event grounds to summer readers for a magnificent visit to the past, with stories, activities and tours of these marvelous machines. Parked on the grounds with the steam engine-powered tractors and machines will be the Mobile Library (powered by diesel, not steam), so bring your library card!

The Steam Engine Grounds Grounds are located east of the Republic city limits, on the south side of U.S. 60. Entrance to the grounds is from Farm Road 170.

This event is part of the Library’s annual Summer Reading Program for kids. Visit thelibrary.org/digintoreading for more information and a complete schedule of events.
