Affordable Housing Assistance

The Springfield Affordable Housing Center has opened in Springfield to provide assistance for residents seeking affordable housing options. We welcome this new organization as part of a larger body of community resources that area residents often don't know about. Here is a list of some community resources you may not be aware of.

 

Springfield Affordable Housing Center

The Springfield Affordable Housing Center opened on June 5 thanks to the efforts of the Community Parternership of the Ozarks and the City of Springfield. The new office is hailed as a one-stop center for all information regarding affordable housing and prevention of homelessness. The Springfield Affordable Housing Center is located at 300 E. Central St., across from Springfield City Utilities. For more information, you can contact the Community Partnership at (417) 888-2020.

 

United Way 2-1-1

2-1-1 provides an easy way to locate community resources.  Simply dial 2-1-1 or 1-800-427-4626 to speak with an operator who can help you locate assistance with basic needs; physical and mental health resources; jobs programs; support for seniors and those with disabilities; support for children, youth and families; and volunteering opportunities. This help line is open 24 hours a day and 7 days a week.

 

Ozarks Food Harvest

The Ozarks Food Harvest provides food to more than 250 food pantries in southwest Missouri. It maintains a list of Emergency Food Assistance Sites operating in Greene County. To locate the nearest food assistance site, call the Ozarks Food Harvest at (417) 865-3411.

 

Springfield Career Center

The Springfield Career Center provides several resources for the job seeker, including job searching assistance, resume writing and education and training opportunities. It is located at 2900 E. Sunshine St., and can be contacted at (417) 887-4343.

 

The Directory

The Directory, published biennially, is a listing of non-profit organziations in the Springfield area. The Directory can be searched online or is available for checkout at any Library branch. Copies of The Directory may also be purchased at the Library for $10.
