Help! I've Got Homework!

Fear not! The Library has plenty of resources for you to help aid or supplement your student's education.  Here are seven super research tools to help you get started.

Academic Search Elite*  Searchable full-text for more than 2,100 scholarly journals, including 1,700 peer-reviewed journals.

Articles are accessed electronically but most are considered print sources.

Biography In Context* More than 600,000 biographies integrating material from reference works, magazines and multimedia sources.

Head here as soon as you're assigned to research any historical figure or celebrity.

CultureGrams Online*  Experience the cultures of over 190 countries that includes maps, statistics, recipes, and in-depth information. Also includes information on all 50 U.S. states.

Everything you need to know if you are assigned to research a country or a state.

Discovering Collection*  A database for students that is comprised of biographies and essays that cover literature, history, biography, science, and social studies.

This collection has a little bit of everything!  Look here first for the basics of a topic.

Literature Resource Center*  A wealth of information that offers literary criticism, biographies, work overviews, periodical articles, web sites and more.

If you have a book report to write, this is a great place to start.

Mango Languages*  An online interactive language learning system that teaches real conversation skills for practical communication.

Mango makes learning a new language fast, easy, and incredibly effective.

New York Times Historical Times with Index*  Online, easily searchable first-hand accounts and unparalleled coverage of the politics, society, and events of the time.

This is great for "On The Day You Were Born" assignments or as primary resources.

Databases are a fantastic resource but they can sometimes be daunting.  Stop by your local branch of the Library and have a librarian show you the ropes. You'll be a database pro in no time!
