Geezerfest May 17 at Library Center; Friends Book Sales Help Fund Library Programs and Services; T-shirts and Snapsuits Available for Little Readers
It wouldn’t be spring without the annual patio concert at the Library Center with one of the Ozarks’ favorite cover bands, Geezer, in Geezerfest. So make plans to enjoy 60s, 70s and 80s rock tunes at 7 p.m. on Saturday, May 17, on the south patio.
We’ll provide seating, but feel free to bring your own lawn chairs, pick up a snack at the Mudhouse or have a tailgate picnic on the south parking lot. Geezerfest is perfect for all ages. Geezer members are David Sharon, Richard Struckhoff, Mark Ellman, Mark Pasquale, Duane Lewis, Rusty Swift and Jana Henderson.

Congratulations and thanks go out to the Friends of the Library and everyone who donated books or shopped at the Friends Spring Book Sale April 29-May 4 at Remington’s. The semi-annual event brought in $121,309.60 in sales. That’s the fourth-highest sales total since the Friends began their sales in 1985. Proceeds from this and other Friends sales benefit the 10 library branches and the Mobile Library. Recently, Friends grants funded free music concerts, Big Read author visits and will help fund some of the Summer Reading Program events for kids.
If you missed the sale, you can always find more Friends used books and CDs every day at the Between Friends Gift Shops at the Library Center and Library Station. And save this date: The big Friends Fall Book Sale is Oct. 21–26.

Babies and toddlers love library storytime, and now they can tell everyone with a T-shirt or one-piece snapsuit proclaiming “I ♥ Racing to Read Storytime at My Library.” Racing to Read is the library’s signature early literacy program.
The items are $12, no tax, and can be ordered at – and delivered to – your neighborhood library branch for free. They’re sold at the Between Friends Gift Shops at the Library Center and Library Station, or you can order them at betweenfriendsgiftshops.org, and have them delivered anywhere for an additional $5. They make great baby shower and birthday gifts, too, and proceeds from the sales benefit the library district, as do all library gift shop purchases.
