Perry L. Teaff
From the Springfield Leader & Press, May 1, 1942, page 7. "Lieut. Perry L. Teaff, 26-year-old navy flier whose home is in Springfield, is shown receiving the coveted navy cross from Rear Admiral R. S. Holmes, commandant of the eleventh naval district, at San Diego, Cal. Lieutenant Teaff received the medal for extraordinary courage in action during the attack on Pearl Harbor and in two other major aerial battles against the Japanese. He subsequently lost his right eye in an accidental crash. Lieutenant Teaff visited relatives here recently on a furlough."
