Author and Illustrator Jan Brett Coming to Library Center Dec. 5
If you or your children love the story of “The Mitten” and “Hedgie,” you know and love Jan Brett, one of the nation’s foremost author and illustrators of children’s books.
You’ll have a rare opportunity to meet Jan Brett during her visit to the Library Center at 5 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 5. She will visit with her fans of all ages, do a drawing demonstration and talk about her newest book, “The Animals’ Santa.” Her talk will be from 5-5:20 p.m. in the central area of the Library Center.
(Unrelated to the Library event, Jan Brett is also conducting a “2014 Lunch on the Bus Contest” during her “Animals’ Santa Tour.” You can find more information about her contest at janbrett.com.)
Arrive early on Friday, Dec. 5:
- The first 100 families to arrive for Jan Brett’s talk will get a free, signed poster.
- Get a free Jan Brett bookmark!
- Meet Hedgie! Jan’s favorite friend from “The Mitten” and “The Hat” will visit the Library Center, as well. Bring the kids and your camera to have a photo taken with Hedgie.
- Children’s activities will be available in the Story Hour Room during her visit.
After Jan’s 5 p.m. talk, drop by the auditorium where she will autograph her new book. It will be on sale with many of her other popular titles in the Library Center concourse. If time does not permit Jan to sign every book, the Library Center will have special signed bookplates featuring Jan’s artwork for all of the extra books.
Jan’s tour bus will also be parked in the Library Center parking lot at 4 p.m. – it will arrive 1 hour before her talk begins. It is wrapped in artwork from “The Animals’ Santa.” Your family is welcome to take a photograph next to the bus.
