Start Give Ozarks Day with Yoga, Doughnuts and Dough-nations at Library Center; Spring Book Sale Achieves Record-high Sales

Come indulge in a free yoga class, or just doughnuts and coffee from 6-8 a.m. Tuesday, May 5, at the Library Center, and treat us with a “dough-nation” during the Give Ozarks fundraising blitz.

The Library is hosting Yoga, Doughnuts & Dough-nations as part of the 24-hour online day of giving sponsored by the Community Foundation of the Ozarks. We hope to match a $5,000 stretch grant from CFO for our early literacy programs that prepare children to learn to read.

Nonprofits across the Ozarks will be raising money and competing for cash prizes throughout May 5 in a variety of challenges.

At the Library Center, instructor Alicia Epps of My Hot Yoga will give yoga classes for all levels at 6 and 7 a.m. Or, just come for doughnuts provided by Sam’s Club and make an online donation on the spot.

On May 5, donors can log onto giveozarks.org/2015/library-foundation to complete a credit-card donation. For more information call Valerie Richardson at 616-0586.

Congratulations to the Friends of the Library, who hit record-high sales of $129,940.14 during the April 20-26 Spring Book Sale at Remington’s. That smashed the old record of $125,779.01 set in the fall 2012 sale.

“I continue to be amazed at the success of the Friends of the Library book sales!” said Library Executive Director Regina Greer Cooper. “Their hard work really pays off and results in much-needed support for the Library District. We just can't thank them enough.”

Friends President Jim Moore credited donors and shoppers for the success.

“We appreciate the people of the Ozarks who came out to support our organization and the work we do for the Library,” Moore said. “The bottom line is that the library system has benefitted because we’re able to provide programs for the public at the libraries, and…we got books in the hands of people to promote literacy.”

Next, the Friends will begin pricing donations for the Oct. 20-25 Fall Book Sale. Drop off your items at any library branch.
