George Clark's Side Glances
Whom do you recognize in these side glances of Springfieldians?
Leader & Press, December 30, 1936, front page.
Little did these Springfield men think, when they went to Rotary meeting yesterday, that they were going to be sketched by one of the country's best newspaper artists. An unexpected guest was George Clark, author of the popular feature, Side Glances, which appears each afternoon in the Leader and Press. While the men talked and ate and listened to the speaking, George deftly made the sketches you see above, and the subjects weren't even aware they were being sketched. None of the men was known to Clark. He selected them because their faces represented interesting types. If you don't recognize them readily, you will find them identified elsewhere on this page.
