“All Grown Up” by Jami Attenberg (author of “The Middlesteins," 2013) - After a tumultuous childhood, 30-something Andrea Bern struggles to define who she is in adulthood. The reader learns of Andrea’s joys and woes through witty vignettes. Releases March 7, 2017.
“Ill Will” by Dan Chaon (author of “Await Your Reply,” 2009) - Forty-something psychologist Dustin Tillman’s world changes when his brother, in prison for killing their parents and an aunt and uncle, is released after 30 years on the basis of newly-discovered DNA evidence exonerating him. At the same time, one of Dustin’s patients has information about a spate of recent deaths. Dustin becomes embroiled in the investigation as he deals with the return of his brother. Described as a taut thriller. Releases March 7, 2017.
"South and West” by Joan Didion (author of the National-Book-Award-winning “The Year of Magical Thinking,” 2005) masterful storyteller and essayist releases portions of her notebooks from a 1970 trip through Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama, and a never-published 1976 article on the Patty Hearst trial. Releases March 7, 2017.
"Exit West” by Mohsin Hamid (author of “The Reluctant Fundamentalist,” 2007) - A love story set in a country on the brink of civil war. As the unrest escalates, the two lovers decide they must leave their homeland and step into an uncertain future. Releases March 7, 2017.
"Long Black Veil” by Jennifer Finney Boylan (author of “She’s Not There,” 2003) - Six college students sneak into a formerly-notorious abandoned prison for a night of fun. The consequences of their ill-conceived adventure reverberate for decades. Releases April 11, 2017.
“The Shadow Land” by Elizabeth Kostova (author of “The Historian,” 2005) - Alexandra Boyd travels to Eastern Europe seeking a respite from grief. In a taxi, she finds an abandoned suitcase containing the ashes of a Bulgarian musician and sets out to return the ashes to his family. Through Alexandra’s search, Kostova reveals the tumultuous history of Bulgaria and its people. Releases April 11, 2017.
“The Legend of the Albino Farm” by Steve Yates (author of “Morkan’s Quarry,” 2010) - Rumors, legends and ghost stories swirl around an Ozarks family farm, attracting partying teenagers and thrill seekers. But what of the family trying to maintain the property? Springfield native Steve Yates spins a spooky yarn, riffing on a local legend. Releases April 11, 2017.
Steve Yates will appear for a reading from “The Legend of the Albino Farm” at The Library Station Santa Fe Room on Sunday, April 23, 2017, at 2:00 p.m. He will also appear at The Library Center Meeting Room B at 6:00 p.m. Monday, April 24, 2017, to discuss the novel and small-press publishing.
“Anything is Possible” by Elizabeth Strout (author of Pulitzer-Prize-Winning “Olive Kitteridge,” 2008) - Elizabeth Strout returns with a novel told in interconnected short stories, some related to the characters in her previous novel, ”My Name is Lucy Barton” (2016). Releases April 25, 2017.
“Into the Water” by Paula Hawkins - The author who brought us the riveting thriller “The Girl on the Train” (2015) returns with “Into the Water”, another tale of psychological suspense. Releases May 2, 2017.
“House of Names” by Colm Toibin (author of “Brooklyn,” 2009 and “Nora Webster, 2014) returns with a modern retelling of the Ancient Greek tale of “Clytemnestra.” Releases May 9, 2017.
“Woman No. 17” by Eden Lepucki (author of “California,” 2015). “Woman No. 17” tells the story of writer Lady Daniels who finds a nanny on Craigslist to take care of her children as the finishes her memoir. The nanny’s presence in the family home causes intrigue and unrest. Releases May 9, 2017.
