The Best Land Under Heaven: The Donner Party in the Age of Manifest Destiny by Michael Wallis. This best-selling author presents the ultimate cautionary tale of America’s westward expansion.
Cattle Kingdom: The Hidden History of the Cowboy West by Christopher Knowlton. Fans of Westerns and history of the West will enjoy this truthful tale of how the West rose and fell, and how its legacy defines us today.
The Child by Fiona Barton. Our patrons love psychological suspense thrillers, and they won’t be disappointed by this one. Workmen demolishing an old house in London discover a tiny skeleton. A journalist covers the story and is drawn into a more twisted tale.
Gastrophysics: The New Science of Eating by Charles Spence. The Oxford professor presents the science behind a good meal: all the sounds, sights and tastes that make us like what we’re eating, and want more.
Daring to Drive: A Saudi Woman’s Awakening by Manal al-Sharif. This devout Saudi woman became the leader of a courageous movement to support women’s right to drive.
A Speck in the Sea: A Story of Survival and Rescue by John Aldridge and Anthony Sosinski. This harrowing tale recounts the 2013 search-and-rescue mission for lost Montauk fisherman John Aldridge.
Political titles – no matter the perspective – are consistently popular with readers here. This newest one will appeal to some: The Swamp, Washington’s Murky Pool of Corruption and Cronyism and How Trump Can Drain It, by Fox News host Eric Bolling.
