Tax Time
The new year has arrived and with it, tax season.
All 10 branches of the Springfield-Greene County Library serve as outlets for federal tax forms. The Library no longer receives any paper forms from the Missouri Department of Revenue. Missouri tax forms are available online or can be ordered by phone, 1-800-877-6881.
Although Library staff aren't able to offer tax assistance, staff members can direct you to paper copies, internet resources, and reproducible forms and publications. The Library has put together an extensive list of frequently asked tax questions that can be found on the Library's website: Research Page > Government. This FAQ will help confused tax filers navigate through the following questions:
- Where can I get forms?
- What forms do you supply at the Library?
- Where can I obtain tax forms for past years?
- Where can I get out-of-state tax forms?
- Can I file my forms electronically at the Library?
- Where do I mail my tax form?
- What is the deadline to file my taxes?
- What is my Missouri School District Number?
- Where can I obtain help in preparing my taxes?
- How do I check on the status of my refunds?
Another popular resource during tax season is J.K. Lasser's Your Income Tax. Available to check-out, J.K. Lasser's is updated each year and is written by a team of tax specialists. J.K. Lasser's Your Income Tax 2010 contains:
- Over 2,500 tax planning tips and strategies
- Coverage of the year's tax law changes
