Frisco Bananas

From the book, Springfield Missouri Merchants' and Manufacturers' record, 1906. From the Springfield Republican, May 29, 1913, page 10.
"Fast time for Frisco system banana train."
"Engineer, W. P. Shelton of the Frisco railroad brought twenty-three carloads of bananas into Springfield yesterday from Thayer in five hours and fourteen minutes.  Shelton is considered one of the fastest and safest engineers on the Frisco."

For a more in depth description of how carefully bananas had to be shipped see As to bananas-- Yes, we have them in the Frisco Employee's Magazine.  Use "banana" as a keyword search for delicious recipes in the Homemakers Page.

The newest addition to our Frisco website is the All Aboard magazine, published by the former Frisco museum, which featured news about the Frisco museum, history of the Frisco, Frisco people, Frisco equipment and articles on modeling the Frisco.  An excellent description of the Frisco banana sheds is in the 1997 Volume 11, number 2 issue on page 8.
