The Future of Genetic Genealogy is Here.
According to an article on Examiner.com, we are on the brink of a new revolution in genetic genealogy. Typically genetic testing gives us information on our deep ancestry.
Y-DNA testing will connect us to males who are direct descendants of someone who may have lived 500-1000 or more years ago; and mtDNA works in a similar way on female lines.
An article by Anne Hart indicates that Family Tree DNA will soon be introducing a new feature called "Family Finder;" which will allow seekers to match both female and male cousins in all family lines to the fifth generation.
Other companies are using autosomal DNA, but "Family Finder" will make names and e-mail addresses available to easily contact those new cousins.
