Red Foley

 Red Foley

From Bias magazine, April 20, 1954.

"Red Foley, top man in the country music field and star of radio's Grand Ole Opry, will move to Springfield from Nashville April 23, a major victory for Springfield impresarios E.E. Siman and Lou Black in their battle to make Springfield (rather than Nashville) the capital of the hillbilly music world. Mr. Foley, shown in meditative mood above, has signed contracts with Mr. Siman's RadiOzark Enterprises, for whom he will record a series of coast-to-coast radio programs, and Mr. Black's Top Talent, Inc., which will manage Mr. Foley's personal appearances."

Red Foley went on to host the Ozarks Jubilee television show. Read more in Remembering the Ozark Jubilee by Reta Spears-Stewart or A satisfied mind: the country music life of Porter Wagoner by Steve Eng. There is also an Ozarks Public Television Production DVD called Ozark Jubilee: a living legacy available to check out.
