Deaf Awareness Group of Southwest Missouri (DAG)The Deaf Awareness Group of Southwest Missouri was formed in 2005 and began offering assistance to the Deaf and Hard of Hearing community. The organization promotes opportunities for social and educational interaction between individuals, their families and friends.
DAG members plan social events, such as "chat nights" at area restaurants. Activities are planned for children and adults.
DAG provides an online newsletter that discusses issues of concern to the Deaf and Hard of Hearing community. The newsletter provides announcements of upcoming events in the region and state, such as Deaf Awareness Day that will be held at Six Flags on June 8, Oceans of Fun on July 13, and Silver Dollar City on September 7.
The organization also conducts disability awareness workshops for the general public.
Anyone in the Deaf and Hard of Hearing community, as well as students, interpreters, deaf educators, sign language students, parents, friends, and family are invited to become involved with DAG.
