Lost on Mars LARP

3-4:30 p.m. at Library Center For grades 4-8

You have just arrived on Mars and now have to set up a colony, find food and learn to live in space. As you settle into your new home, people start to get sick and are attacked by a mysterious presence. Come LARP (live action role play) with us and see if you can survive living on Mars! Registration starts June 1. Call 616-0526.

The Science of "Star Wars"

6 p.m. at Library Center For grades 6-12

Since 1977, the "Star Wars" movies featured technologies that became realities; others we may never see. Learn about the science behind the "Star Wars" movies from Professor Rob Powers, science teacher at the Summit Preparatory School, and make your own light saber (not currently a science reality!) to take home. Materials will be provided.

Curious about what astronauts eat? Sample astronaut food and see if you can make a dish out of the ingredients provided. Watch out for extra ingredients and challenges! Free eclipse glasses will be available, 2 pair per person while supplies last. Registration starts July 1. Call 616-0526.

Intergalactic Spray Paint Art

5-7 p.m. at Library Station For grades 6-12

Join artist Taylor Hopkins in the south parking lot as he demonstrates how to make space-themed art using spray paint. Then work together to create a giant picture of outer space to display in the library. Materials will be provided.
