Military service records for Missouri Veterans are maintained by
the Missouri State Archives. All inquiries
and requests should be directed to them. They are located at: 600
West Main, PO Box 1747, Jefferson City, MO 65102; Phone: 573-751-3280;
Email: archref@sos.mo.gov.
Hours at the archives are: 8:00-5:00, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday,
Friday; 8:00-9:00, Thursday; 8:00-3:30, Saturday.

For veterans from other states, The National
Archives and Records Administration (NARA) is the official repository
for records of military personnel who have been discharged from
the U.S. Air Force, Army, Marine Corps, Navy and Coast Guard.
Paper copies of military service and pension records can be ordered
by mail from the facility which holds the records.
To order military service records from Washington, D.C., use NATF
Form 86. To order military pension records, use NATF
Form 85.
The National
Personnel Records Center in St. Louis, Missouri, holds military
personnel files of later military service records.
Access to Military Service Records is limited. See Services
for Veterans, Next-of-Kin, or the Veteran's Representative for
more information.
To order records from St. Louis: If you a veteran or next-of-kin
of a deceased veteran, use vetrecs.archives.gov
; All others, use Standard
Form 180.
Note: Many records were destroyed by fire
in the St. Louis Center in 1973.
