The Knights of Pythias are a fraternal organization,
similar to the Freemasons, organized in 1864 by Justus Rathbone.
.
In 1908, the State Grand Lodge of Missouri, Knights
of Pythias, voted to construct a Pythian
Home
for Children in Springfield. It resembled a stone castle and many
generations of orphans were raised and educated there before it
was sold to the U. S. Army during World War II. View the
castle when it served as the Enlisted
Men's Service Club.
