Where is the Lena Wills Collection?

The Special Collections and Archives at the MSU Duane G. Meyer Library  houses the Lena Wills Collection.

Lena Wills was best known in Springfield for her genealogy column, “Ozarks Genealogy”, that she wrote from 1969 until her death in 1986 for the Springfield News Leader. Her family donated the materials to the MSU Library in November, 1986, following her death.

The collection comprises almost 2000 books and periodicals, mainly related to genealogical records in Missouri. There are also some subject files, several maps and card indexes. Wills collected the books and periodicals over the course of approximately 35 years, while the correspondence relate mainly to her genealogy column. The collection was inventoried in 1998, and a copy may be found in the Local History and Genealogy Department.
