 A native of Philadelphia, Jerry Pinkney has illustrated over one hundred children's books since 1964. His books have been translated into eleven languages and published in fourteen different countries. He has received numerous awards for his work.
In addition to his work in children's books, Jerry has created art for posters, postal stamps, illustrations for National Geographic and has served on the National Council of the Arts. Jerry speaks frankly of his youth and his experiences as both an African-American and a student with Dyslexia.
His 2009 title, The Lion and the Mouse, has already won several honors. He is looking forward to the release of Three Little Kittens in October, 2010.
