Mary Pope Osborne's dad was in the army, so every year or two her family would move to a different state or country. By the time she was fifteen, Mary had lived in thirteen different houses and gone to eight different schools.
Writing children's books was a perfect career for Mary because she could still travel the world - but be back home in time for dinner. She has written over a hundred books, including biographies, mysteries and picture books. Her Magic Tree House series has taken her readers on a journey through time - from the prehistoric land of dinosaurs to Camelot and beyond. She also co-authors, with her sister, Natalie Pope Boyce, the Fact Checker series, which is a non-fiction companion to the Magic Tree House Series. The Fact Checker books offer a fun, easy way to find out more about the places, time periods and subjects featured in the fiction series.
The most recent Fact Checker book, Heroes for All Times, is the companion to High time for Heroes. It profiles Florence Nightingale, Harriet Tubman, Susan B. Anthony, Mahatma Gandhi, Martin Luther King Jr. and John Muir.
