Offsite - Fantastic Friday at the Steam Engine Grounds

10 a.m.-noon in the Steam Engine Grounds for grades K-5.
Heat water and what do you get? Steam power! Our friends from the Ozark Steam Engine Association and the Southwest Early Day Gas Engine and Tractor Association are dedicated to restoring the steam-powered engines used in farming and industry in the mid-19th century around the Ozarks and the nation. Members of the associations will open the Steam-O-Rama event grounds to summer readers for a magnificent visit to the past, with activities and tours of these marvelous machines. The Republic Branch librarian will provide stories, and KY3's Mike Landis will provide a StoryBreak at 10 a.m. Be sure to bring your Library card, because the Mobile Library will be on the grounds and checking out materials! After we read our StoryWalk® book, we’ll walk along the trail and enjoy the book, again, displayed on sign posts along the way. Library Center - Innovation Fair

10 a.m.-2 p.m. for grade K and older.
In the concourse. Whether you prefer to make, invent, craft or tinker, this event is for you. Makers of all types will host booths showcasing their projects, allowing families to experience art, mechanics, technology and more. Many exhibitors will offer hands-on and interactive opportunities to inspire you to become a maker! Co-sponsored by O-STEAM, coordinators of the Ozarks Mini Maker Faire.


Library Center - Racing to Read Playtime: Science Edition

10 a.m.-noon in the Story Hour Room for infants-age 6.
Come play with us! Learning begins at birth, and playing is how young children learn. Join us for a play-date filled with unstructured, developmentally appropriate activities for babies, toddlers and preschoolers. Kids and parents can visit, play and socialize. Join us on the patio on the east side of the rink at 11:45 a.m. We'll head outside and warm up from skating with a StoryWalk® along the Jordan Creek Greenway. Republic Branch Library - Family Fort Night @ The Library

5:30-7:30 p.m. for families with children in preschool-grade 7.
Bring your flashlights, pillows, blankets and other fort-making materials to the library for this after-hours program! We'll read a few stories together, then off you'll go to create your reading fort. Wrap up your evening of family fun with a surprise game and a special snack; snacks provided. Since this is a family event, all youth must be accompanied by an adult caregiver.
