Outreach Youth Assistant 
This part-time position in the Outreach Services Department located at the Library Center is scheduled for approximately 22-24 hours per week and pays $9.45 per hour. The position will be posted until the application deadline of Feb. 10.

Essential Functions
- Timeliness: Since adherence to a strict schedule is mandatory, the Youth Assistant must be prompt and timely in arriving to work and completing tasks.
- Ability to work with children, childcare providers, and the general public in a cooperative, pleasant and constructive manner.
- Plans and implements children's story times and other program activities at home and center daycares, after-school programs, and children's events throughout the county.
- Performs computer data searches, data entry, word-processing and spreadsheet construction.
- Completes reports and correspondence as requested.
- Basic file-keeping and clerical activities.
Education/Experience
- Minimum 60 college credit hours in a related field.
- Experience working with children, elementary age and younger.
Skills/Job Knowledge
- Excellent communications skills, oral and written.
- Working knowledge of children's literature and age appropriate materials.
- Demonstrates artistic and creative ability in the production of children's programming.
Supervision
- Supervised by Outreach Services Manager.
Physical Demands
- Performs bending, squatting, kneeling and reaching from floor level to 6 feet in height.
- Displays good coordination and mobility.
- Routine lifting of library materials weighing up to 35 lbs.
- Indoor and outdoor work environments.
Miscellaneous Requirements
- Must pass a security background check.
- Must have reliable transportation, valid driver's license, and proof of insurance on vehicle.
