In compiling this Directory of Towns, Villages, and Hamlets Past and Present, of St. Clair Co., Missouri, every effort has been made in include every community in the county.

I wish to acknowledge the very able assistance of Mrs. Lena Wills, who very graciously agreed to review the directory as to its accuracy. Mrs. Wills has access to the 1903 edition of the Standard Atlas of St. Clair County, published by George A. Ogle and Company, Chicago, Ill., from which the material she supplied was taken. She made several valuable additions.

Also, I want to thank the staff of the Research Department of the Springfield Public Library, who made certain rare books available for examination.
