Through the generosity of Mr. Howard N. QUEEN of Sunnyvale, Calif., the Society now has the money to purchase the slave portion of the U.S. Census Report for Taney County for 1860.
In the Summer Quarterly, the Secretary asked for information about the "Mystery Photograph" printed on page 23. Mr. Barton EVERETT has given him help in identifying some of the people on the boat. In the fourth window from the stern, the lady on the right is Bessie PARRISH, daughter of Cal Parrish; on the left is Maude Parrish, daughter of Bob Parrish. In the bow of the boat is Charley GROOM, wearing a stiff Katy hat. Beside him is Lena Everett. The man in the bow at the extreme left is thought to be Buel MINER. The lady in the third window from the stern is believed to be Janey RAY.
New member Walter C. Mc CANSE, Springfield, Mo., sent this note with his application:
"At the urging of Samanthy of Hurley,

In the White River Valley Historical Society."
During the past few weeks we have had numerous requests for back issues of the WRVHS Quarterly. We have been able to fulfill these requests with the exception of the first issue of October 1961. There are no longer any extra copies of it available, al though we still have a few Winter and Spring issues at 50 cents each. We have less than 15 copies of the Summer 1962 issue. If any members have extra copies of the first issue which they wish to sell, they may notify the editor who will be glad to send their names to the persons wishing to buy the back issues.
CORRECTION: In the Summer Quarterly on the Table of Contents page, we listed the author of the story about Dr. Amyx as "Ruth" Robins instead of RUBY ROBINS. Our apology to Mrs. Robins for this error.
Some members have asked for an explanation of the "Institutional" membership. It is designed to accommodate schools, libraries, hospitals and other institutions which are members and to extend to them all privileges of membership with the exception of voting and holding office.
This issue carries a "Family Tree' page for the convenience of members who are working on a family history. We believe that a file of geneological records would be of great help to persons doing research and, at a later date, will print another form which we hope members will complete for the files.
To save postage, membership cards and receipts from now on will be stapled inside the Quarterlies. At present membership figures and present postage rates, this will amount to a saving of over $25 a year.
We welcome to the Society Mr. E. R. EVERETT who recently celebrated his 103rd birthday. He has the distinction, we believe, of being our senior member. In checking to locate the youngest member, we find Chandis INGENTHRON who is eight. On the ladies' side, the junior member is high schoo1 student Sherrie SNAPP, and we have no information at all as to who might be the oldest woman in the Society.
