"Our local environment and history are the mirrors in which are reflected every aspect of our history as a nation. Here is to be observed and what is more important – understood – the very process through which we built a nation out of a wilderness. As a matter of fact, an adequate understanding of our local and environmental backgrounds can advance not only national understanding but international understanding as well." ~ Dr. Sylvester K. Stevens

The Society has made a modest beginning in collecting old photographs for the archives. Some are originals which have been given to the Society, and others are on loan for copying. Any member who wishes to help in building the collection by either donating photographs of historical interest or by donating money for the copying of such photographs will be doing his Society a great service.

Anyone having information or records concerning the Taney County Immigration Society, an organization of the leading citizens to advertise Taney County in the 1880's in the hope of securing emigration, please write the editor, 201 Courtney Drive, Branson, Mo. Information is also sought about Eglington, a cooperative colony founded here about 80 years ago with headquarters in what is now the south part of Taneyville.
