Crane is the largest town in Stone Coun ty. It is located on the Missouri Pacific Rail road, and on Highway 43, thirty-five miles southwest of Springfield and 65 miles from Joplin. Crane is a railroad center being the terminal for the White River Division of the Springfield branch of the Missouri Pacific Railroad with an extensive Roundhouse and Machine Shops which support a pay roll to exceed $1000 per day.

Crane is located on a stream of clear wa ter in the center of a large agricultural coun try and is the central market for produce of all kinds from a scope of fertile country ex tending several miles into Barry and Lawe rence Counties
