Registered Voters
Taney County, Mo., 1866
Edited by Kathleen Van Buskirk

Editor’s Note: The following list is from the Capitol Fire Documents, Missouri State Archives. The collection contains a number of election records and this one is from the Radical Republican government just after the Civil War. Failure to sign the loyalty oaths had disfranchised ex- Confederates and thousands of Confederate sympathizers. Registered voters, often small in number for many counties, decided local elections until the disenfranchised could legally vote in 1872.
