"Uncle Jurd" Haworth

In a letter Barton C. Everett says: "J.M. Haworth was well remembered by older folks as "Uncle Jurd." He was an uncle of John H. Haworth, who is well remembered by most of our folks today. Uncle John was Presiding Judge of the Taney County Court and was a minister.

"Jordan and John H. Haworth were among those that organized the first Christian Church in Taney County, July 31st, 1868, at Pleasant Hill. Members of the Forsyth Masonic Lodge and also members of the church were: D.J. Snapp, John H. Parrish, London S. Parrish, and Barton G. Everett. Jordan M. and John H. Haworth were both ministers and preached quite frequently at the church.

"John H. Haworth is the Grandfather of Jurd Haworth, at present a member of the Forsyth Lodge and also of Jess and Don Haworth. Jordan M. Haworth served as Master of F.L. No. 453, eight different years during 1877 to 1896."
