Minutes of Annual Meeting
June 10, 1979

MEETING-DATE-TIME-PLACE-INVOCATION
The Annual Meeting of The White River Valley Historical Society met in the College Center Cafeteria of The School of the Ozarks on June 10, 1979, at 1:15 P.M. with President Lucille A. Brown presiding. Dr. Townsend Godsey gave the invocation.

WELCOME
Greetings were extended to the 41 persons in attendance with seven guests being introduced. The National Anthem was sung.

MINUTES AND TREASURER’S REPORT
Minutes of the March 10 meeting were approved as printed and the Treasurer’s report stated a bank balance of $1079.35.

BOARD RECOMMENDATION
The Board recommendation that Elmo Ingenthron (who was lured out of the meeting for this business) be awarded an Honorary Membership was passed.

REPORTS
Annual reports were given by the officers.

AFGHAN
Vera Wood won the afghan donated by President Brown and this project netted the society $115.00.

THANK YOU
The president thanked Edith McCall for her donation of a box of her books "English Village of the Ozarks" to be sold with proceeds going into the treasury.

IN MEMORIAM
A moment of silent prayer was observed in memory of long-time member Lee Brown.

ELECTION
The following officers were elected: President, Lucille A. Brown; Vice President, Kathleen Van Buskirk; Historian. Viola Hartman; Greene County Director, James E. Powell; and Douglas County Director, Gladys Norman.

HONORARY MEMBERSHIP
President Brown presented a certificate naming Elmo Ingenthron to honorary membership. Mr. Ingenthron replied with an expression of acknowledgement and appreciation.

PROGRAM
Dr. Milton Rafferty, Professor of Geography and Geology of S.M.S.U. of Springfield presented a program of narration and slides on The Ozarks: Geographical Change in An American Backwoods Region.

INSTALLATION
Installation of newly elected officers and a challenge to recommitment to the hold over officers was made by Marie Corrington.

GENEALOGICAL SEMINAR
An invitation to attend the "Keep on Trackin" Genealogy Seminar on June 23 at Harrison, Ark., sponsored by the Boone County Historical & Genealogical Society was read.

ANNOUNCEMENT
September 9 was announced as the next meeting date.

ADJOURNMENT
Adjournment 3:20 P.M.
