Minutes of Annual Meeting
June 12, 1983

Meeting-Date-Time-Place-Invocation
The 22nd Annual meeting of’ the White River Valley Historical Society was held at The School of the Ozarks’ College Center Cafeteria at 1:20 p.m. on June 12, 1983. President Fred Hartman presided. Pauline Boss gave the invocation.

Attendance
Twenty-five members and guests introduced themselves.

Minutes
Minutes of the March 12 meeting were approved as printed.

Treasurer’s Report
The Treasurer reported transferring $2,500. to a savings account and gave a balance of $776.67 in the checking account with 1 outstanding bill.

Correspondence
Correspondence included invitations to attend 1) the annual genealogical studies at Oklahoma State University on August 11-13, Stillwater, OK.; 2) the Missouri State Genealogical Assn. 3rd conference at Columbia on August 12 & 13 at the Ramada Inn; 3) Viennastat slide show on historic structures on June 25 at Vienna; 4) the St. Louis Genealogical Society Fair on June 18; 5) the 1st annual Genealogical Seminar at Carthage on June 18 with special sessions on Quakers, Indians and Mennonites. Butler County sent a list of the many available records they have for purchase for researchers.

Annual Reports
Only four annual reports were given.

Election
Following a second reading of the Nominating Committee’s report elected officers for 1983-1984 are: President, Fred Hartman; Vice president, Ralph Lucas; and, Kathleen VanBuskirk as Historian. County Directors elected for 1983-86 are: Barry County, Mildred Roden of Cassville; Stone County, Ruth Asher of Galena; and, Christian County, Cuma Horst of Ozark.

Program
James Powell, program chairman, introduced Alan Schmitt, teacher of local history at Ash Grove High School, who presented a narrated slide program on the history of Ash Grove. The presentation was a 35-minute visual adaptation of the book, "A Pictoral History of Ash Grove, Mo. - City of Seven Hills" written by Elizabeth Williams and Mr. Schmitt.

Installation
Installation of the newly elected officers and directors was conducted by Lucille A. Brown, past president. Hold-over officers and directors who are: Secretary-Treasurer, Ionamae Rebenstorf; and, County Directors Icy Curry of Ava, R. G. Weaver of Republic and Bessie Ingenthron of Kirbyville were asked to recommit themselves to their responsibilities.

Announcements
President Hartman: that he had been informed that work on the Swan Creek bridge had been completed.

Next meeting would be held on September 11.

Meeting adjourned 3:10 p.m.
