MINUTES DECEMBER 8, 1985

Meeting Date Place
The regular quarterly meeting of the White River Valley Historical Society was held in the banquet room of The Friendship House, The School of the Ozarks, Point Lookout, MO on December 8, 1985 with President Penelope Willard presiding. James Horst of Ozark gave the

Invocation
invocation.

Welcome Attendance
A welcome was extended by the president to the 26 members and guests present, who introduced themselves.

Minutes
Minutes of the September 8 meeting were approved as published.

Treasurer's Report
The treasurer’s report gave a balance of $2315.65 with two outstanding bills.

Correspondence
Correspondence from various vendors, area events and other promotions was read.

Board Reccomendations
Board Report contained the following recommendations:

1) that the Historical Essay Contest be continued and carried out as the previous year. Carried.

2) that the registration fee of $16.00 be paid to the secretary for Ozarks Genealogical Workshop. Carried.

Committees
Committee reports:

Jerry Gideon, Museum chairman, named the Steamboat Landing and other historic sites around Forsyth to be marked.

James Horst, Historic Sites chairman, told of the mill sites he is researching. Robert Gilmore moved that the meeting begin at 1:00 p.m. Carried.

New Business
Mr. Gilmore introduced Mary Hartman and Elmo Ingenthron as co-authors of a forthcoming book about the Bald Knobbers soon to be published. Mrs. Hartman narrated excerpts from the book.

Announcements
Secretary will be in office immediately following adjournment for purchasing and visitation. Next meeting March 9.
